Protect Your Rights as a Mobile Home Owner!

Preserve your rights as a mobile home park resident and and help your fellow mobile home residents throughout California. Several bills are currently on the Governor’s desk awaiting signature. Your voice is urgently needed to help ensure the Governor signs these bills into law! Last year, many bills passed the State Senate and Assembly by an overwhelming majority, yet they were vetoed by the Governor because he does not understand the unique situation of mobile home owners.

Homeowners are urged to write the Governor requesting that he sign these bills. Your letters will have more impact if a separate letter is sent for each bill, rather than one letter listing all of these bills. It is a common practice in politics to simply look at the size of the stack of letters, rather than their substance.

The GSMOL Mobilizer contains sample letters. Send your letters of support to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, State Capitol, Sacramento, CA 95814.

  • AB 446 – deals with parks requiring certain repairs before you’re allowed to sell your home

  • AB 1542 – returns condo conversion regulation of mobilehome parks to local government

  • SB 127 – requires disclosure on sale or transfer of mobilehome be made within 10 days of signing a contract to purchase, rather than by close of escrow

  • SB 541 – prohibits parks from requiring 3:1 income-to-rent standard to deny residency

  • SB 589 – requires parks to clean up sewage spills from permanent buildings as well as mobilehomes

  • SB 753 – amends loan program to allow low-income loans for purchasing the lot as well as a mobilehome

  • SB 829 – expands the limit for Cal-Vet loans from $125000 to $175000 for mobilehomes
